Playground Safety Inspections
FACT…..the majority of public playgrounds do NOT meet current CPSC and ASTM standards.
Playground audits are recommended immediately following installation with follow-up inspections every 3-years thereafter or when a change in equipment or environment occurs. Lack of maintenance and improper installation or design are the top causes of non-compliance with national standards.
RecWise playground safety audits are performed only by an independent and experienced Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI). Preventative maintenance plans and low frequency inspection services are also available to help your organization in prioritizing the safety of our younger generations.
Playground Safety Audit includes:
- Inspection performed per CPSC and ASTM standards by a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI)
- Equipment inventory record (post installation)
- Report of findings including photographs
- Hazard ratings
- Documentation of compliance/non-compliance
- Recommended actions for non-compliant findings
- Routine maintenance recommendations
Maintenance Program
Routine Maintenance Program
$600*/visit billed annually
Occurs 3 times per year each 10-12 weeks during March – November
Annual Maintenance Program
$975*/year billed annually
Spring or fall single visit program in either March, April, May OR September, October, November
*Cost excludes materials which are billed to the client as necessary (not to exceed $250). Repair estimates in excess of $250 or requiring original manufacturer parts will be provided to client for approval. If located east or north of Lansing, trip fee may apply.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
Play Area (general)
• Visually inspect for wear and damage
• Tighten loose hardware
• Replace worn, damaged or missing labels
• Provide estimates for repair as needed
• Perform and document Maintenance Checklist for warranty records (Nature Playscapes owners only)
Wood and Log Components
• Remove surface moss and/or fungi from
exposed wood surface (bark excluded)
• Smooth out sharp edges and/or splinter hazards
Surfacing
• Rake and level out
• Measure depth
• Remove invasive growth and debris
Waterscape
• If needed, install pump and energize
• Remove invasive debris
Seasonal Maintenance (one time per year)
• Apply sealant to newly exposed log surfaces
• Fertilizer spikes for perennials planted by Nature Playscapes
